These plates and mugs are the pieces that Cindy took out of her Kiln the other day. She is back doing wonderful work after breaking her wrist last year.
Her new slogan for some of her plates are -
"What happens at the cabin, stays at the Cabin."
Good one, Cindy.
Who wouldn't want one of her wonderful pieces of art!
Happy Birthday to my brother, Harry

"Hope"

This is a photo of "Hope".
Caroline and Larry fostered her from the SPCA, where she and several other dogs came from the Brockett Native Reserve in Alberta!
She now has a forever home with them! Caroline says that she is a lovely dog and starting to be less timid. So proud of you Caroline to save and love another dog.

Knitting practice...

Last night I decided that I wanted to learn to knit.
My Mom knitted so beautifully and I am sure that she tried to teach me many times. She always said that the tension should be in the wool, not in me.
This is my practice work, and I am not at all good at fixing mistakes.
I will learn.
There are so many helpful website that have videos where I can learn from.

I have had this magazine for some time, as well as some wool and #10 needles.

My felted pinecones and Tree...

Felted Christmas tree.

These are the start of my Christmas themed oranments that I am doing on-line with Betz White .
Today I will be working on the pine trees. They are fun to make and as I make more, of course, they get easier and look better. Sprinkled some glue on the green one on the right hand side to give it a snowy look.

Ancient Sedona

We went out to see these ruins today and they were an amazing site to see!

One of the most common myths associated with Sedona is that ancient peoples only came here for ceremonial purposes. But once you actually explore the wilds of Sedona, you discover that there are ruins everywhere. Ancient people, in other words, from different tribes and time periods, lived all over the area.

While some of the ruins featured on this website are well known and heavily trafficked, we're primarily interested in the ones that are far removed from the beaten path.

A few quick statistics:

According to Coconino National Forest officials, the 160,000 acres that make up Sedona's red rock country has been populated by human beings for at least 8,000 years!

Today, Sedona is home to about 12,000 people, many of whom are devoted hikers and environmentalists. The area also attracts about four million visitors annually.

Along with human beings, Sedona is also home to deer, coyote, mountain lions, more than 550 types of seed plants, 80 kinds of fish, amphibians, and reptiles, over 180 birds, and 55 mammals. Within 10 miles of Sedona you can also visit seven distinct biological communities.

Cacti
This is the planter that Shannon gave me to keep for a short while, re-planted with some new cact. Hopefully it will fill out over the winter here. Weather is changing today, maybe a bit of rain in forcast, we need it down here.
Today is Rememberance Day.
We are thankful for all of the soldiers that have kept our country free.

Laurie and Shane

Shane sent us this photo of he and Laurie at a beach about 30 miles south of Colombo, Sri Lanka where they will be living for the next 3 to 4 years. Their baby will be born in Austraila in January and then Laurie, Shane and the new grandbaby will head back to Sri Lanka to continue their lives together.

We are hoping to and visit them soon and until that happens, we will see the new baby when they install Skpe and have their web cam on.

A Tribute to Cookie

Cookie May Swift
May 11,1994 - November 5, 2009
It is a sad day in the Swift household today. Cookie has crossed over the rainbow Bridge and gone to meet up with Pebbles and her old buddy Sable.
Her time with us was long and loving but it is always so hard to say goodbye.

Your Pets In Heaven
by Ken D. Conover
To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.
Today I am as I was in my youth.
The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.
There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.
We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself.
Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Doggy Day Care...

Cindy takes Emmy Lou to All Day Play while she does her shopping and visiting in Nelson.
What a lovely idea, EL gets to socialize, play and tire out while Cindy has lunch, shops and gets to relax and take home a very tired dog!
This is Dwight lounging on a tray that I gave Cindy for her new Ottoman and the new tablecloth that she found while doing what we love best...thrift shopping.
Thanks to my gal pal, Cindy for keeping me entertained with her pets!
