Flea Market Style...

Finally after waiting almost a whole year since Country Home Magazine ceased to be published, we have
Flea Market Style..
Matthew Mead and Ki Nassauer decided to collaborate on a magazine that was created by real people with an emphasis on attainable style; so they joined forces as colleagues (and friends) and began to gather a team that they felt would share their goal and help make it happen… and make it successful, and beautiful.
I took these photos of  what you will see inside. Their photos are creative and a joy to look at!
Raining here today, but should be back to nice weather tomorrow.

My Cindy...

Cindy is working part time at a store called Maison in Nelson. She sent me some photos of the sweet items they carry. I said that at the end of every month, she will probably be owing the store her paycheck....don't you agree?

Banners....

For those of you that are kind enough to read my blog, you know that one of my signature marks is changing my banner often. I feel it gives my blog a fresh look and is an opportunity to me to get creative with the many photos I have taken or seen.
These were some of my favorites.

Crafting this past week.

I have a new couple of girlfriends that I have met down here and we like to get together and craft.
Karen and I made these Yo Yo's and are fashioning them into necklaces...I just got the chain I am going to use. Sue has been busy making great looking lap quilts.
Karen and I will be taking a jewelry class together tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully the results will warrant a worthy mention on my blog.

Our little chick....

Laurie and Shane have been great sending new photos of Alexander. We got to see him in person for the first time since he was born when we connected on
Skype.
We were sure that he actually smiled just for us.

Around and About...

These are a few of the projects that I have been working on over the past few weeks. I love small hand crafts that are portable and move with me where ever I am.
Raining today, cooler here but still, rain is a wonderful gift for the desert.

Haiti by Hand

This is what the package I sent off to Rebecca for her ladies in Haiti was filled with. It was a wonderful feeling to send along some of the things that I had here in my craft space and to know they will be used and needed. In retun, I was humbled by the wonderful response from Rebecca. I had sent some of my felt hearts and this is what she had to say.
Thanks, Dagmar.
Got your package yesterday...wow! Thank you!
I'm even thinking the Haitian ladies could make those felt hearts if you don't mind us 'borrowing' your idea :)
Am planning my next trip and so excited!

Treasures seen in Tubac...

As we continued driving last week, we stopped at Tubac just south of Tuscon. It reminds me allot of Nelson, BC. where we lived for 15 years.. They hold an Arts and Craft Festival there every February and we arrived on the last day. Beautiful artworks and a lovely warm day!

Treasures found in Bisbee..

I took over 200 photos, of course not all of them are good,
but I was pleased with these ones that I took in various antique or junk shops that we looked at in Bisbee. Definately thought about you, Cindy!
Love some of this old stuff!

The Shady Dell Trailer park in Bisbee

We checked out this great little place in Bisbee. Had a wonderful burger and felt like we were back in the 50's. I don't think there are too many little gems like this one lfet.
It has always been one of my dreams to restore a small vintage trailer...the dream continues.

Mining in Bisbee

We had a great mine tour, got all dressed up and went 1500 feet down into the mine. We really learned allot and these miners worked so hard for $3.50 for a 10 hour day.

Day 1 & 2

We drove to Benson then headed right away to The Kartchner Caverns. What a great tour to do. You are be able to go into the mountain and see such a pristine place. It was awe inspiring. Today we went to Bisbee and came thru Tombstone. I am hoping that some of these photos will show you a bit if what we saw!

Heartfelt...

One of my favorite fabrics to just stitch thru is felt. Those little pieces that are just in a stash somewhere are perfect for this hand work. I have literally hundreds of buttons that are just begging to be used and I think it adds a lovely touch to any project.

New Baby Alexander photos

Alexander is already well travelled. He has flown @ 3 weeks from Australia where he was born to Sri Lanka with his Mom and Dad.
We talked to Shane and Laurie and they said he was wonderful on the long flights and they hardly heard a peep out of him.
He celebrated his first month birthday by sleeping thru the night. Jim says he obviously takes after him, being such a good guy! Sweet.

Nesting..

a pottery barn visit

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you walk into Pottery Barn, the displays are set up so that you feel this could be your home. The theme right now is Farmhouse and Nest...How perfect for spring. Even here in the desert you see signs of spring all around you. The birds are up earlier and you see them carrying twigs to complete their nests. Soon they will be looking for food for thier young.
I hope that were ever you are reading this from, you see signs of spring in your part of the world.
Signs of Springs
snowdrops - Copy
`````````````````
Cindy was kind enough to send me this photo of the snow drops coming up in her Mom's garden in Nelson. It is a sure sign that spring is on it's way to BC.
Cindy would always invite me over for scones, raspberry jam, clotted cream and tea...so these are memories I cherish.
Thanks for the photo, Cindy
