Dakar Rally 2015

My brother Werner is in Argentina at the moment.

This will be his 2nd Dakar Rally.

Werner drives the support truck for Matt Campbell's

"El Martillo" team.

What an amazing adventure this is for him.

The Latin American countries are just crazy for rally racing.

We are lucky that when we are in Panama we get to see lots of the coverage.

Another reason to learn Spanish more quickly.

We will be following their car #356 very closely.

The TV crews only show the top 5,

but just to complete the 9,000 km is such an accomplishment!

Good luck and safe driving to the entire crew.

Keep safe Werner!

I know his wife Dana will be missing him

and following his journey closely.

The official website is www.dakar.com

Matt's crew is listed under competitors.

Car #356

It will be exciting to watch them race.

A drive to Cave Creek, AZ

Doing last minute trips this week, short ones,

taking lots of photos,

making old memories new again.

They have wonderful artists in Cave Creek.

It's a real cowboy town,

my sister Caroline would fit right in!

Here are a few of the things that made

Jim and I

happy to take these photos.

Happy 4th Birthday, Claire....

As with most little girls her age,

Claire

loved the movie and all things

"Frozen"

She is a sweet, funny, smart and a very kind little girl.

She has a mind of her own, she is well mannered but

definitely has a mischievous streak.

How quickly these 4 years have passed.

Oh how this little one touches my heart!

She is so special to us.

Why We Love Panama...

It's the climate and it's the people.

It's the ocean, it's the mountain, valleys and scenery.

It's the fresh produce. It's the flowers.

It has wonderfully modern areas, it's got a lot of history.

It's warm and it's so interesting.

I am so looking forward to learning Spanish.

I know my Mom would be proud

that we are having this adventure.

Here's a few photos of our trip there in January of this year.

A hike, lunch and a movie..

It was a good way to spend our day.
I have always enjoyed movies based on real events.
I loved the BBC series,
"Bletchley Circle" as well as "Foyles War"
After seeing the documentary about Alan Turning,
I was looking forward to seeing the movie.
It was so well done.
Probably one of the best movies we have seen in a long time.

During the winter of 1952, British authorities entered the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing to investigate a reported burglary.

They instead ended up arresting Turing himself on charges of 'gross indecency', an accusation that would lead to his devastating conviction for the criminal offense of homosexuality - little did officials know, they were actually incriminating the pioneer of modern-day computing.

Famously leading a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers, he was credited with cracking the so-called unbreakable codes of Germany's World War II Enigma machine.

An intense and haunting portrayal of a brilliant, complicated man, this film follows a genius who under nail-biting pressure helped to shorten the war and, in turn, save thousands of lives.

9 days left..

I have really started to countdown the days until we leave for

Panama.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner with our friends,

got messages and phone calls,

skyped and facetimed with family and friends.

Soon the next chapter of in our life is about start.

We are making the very best of these last days.

The hard part is trying to live in the moment, not wishing any part of

the week away.

That will be my challenge over these next 9 days.

Happy Boxing Day my friends.

Isn't this a wonderful Vintage Poster?

Christmas Eve Hike

Connecting with all my brothers and sisters,

face time with friends and the

best gift ever, seeing Claire open our gift to her on Christmas Eve.

Priceless!

Priceless!

Seeing photos of Alexander in Australia

with his Christmas tree.

A late afternoon hike in the desert.

A junkyard kind of day...

Jim has always wanted to go to the

Desert Valley Auto Parts.

Yesterday was that day.

13 acres of cars and of car parts just waiting to become a complete car

again.

They have a wonderful reality show.
