Pottery Barn....

A visit to Pottery Barn always ramps up the inspiration with such great tablescapes plus they encourage you to take photos and create some of these great groupings in your own home.

Sue, Karen and I went to a seminar @ PB yesterday on decorating a bedroom and Karen made out like a bandit.

Her bedroom always looked wonderful but now it looks positively dreamy!

Snow Ornaments..

Cindy sent me this photo the other day..

They have had lots of snow in Nelson..this is a lovely sight!

Right now there is so much snow in the back country with the highest risk of avalanches in the past 40 years.

Unfortunately, Nelson is never immune to that risk as it is surrounded with some of the best back country skiing in BC.

Jeremy's dad with Claire....

Jeremy's dad, Peter and his wife Evelyn came down to meet Claire today.

How happy he looks to see our grand daughter. She looks like a sweet little lamb, not fussy at all..or at least when these photos were taken. It really meant allot to me to have a picture of Jeremy with his Dad holding Claire. 3 generations celebrating this happy moment.

Soon I will be able to share in this joy.

Don't they just look so much alike. I don't see very much of Jeremy in me...maybe that is a good thing, EH?

Linen and Cream

These are just a few of the cream and linen images I love. Old bakers twine, bingo cards, jute, hemp linen,cream buttons, all soothing colors that bring calm into our home. I am working on a burlap runner for the kitchen table. Looking forward to seeing how the completed runner looks.

The Farm Chicks Show!!

Cindy and I will be going to the Farm Chicks show in Spokane June 4 & 5 - 2011.
We are staying at the Davenport Hotel which is a beautifully restored heritage hotel right downtown. This gives us lots of freedom as we can walk everywhere and parcels don't have to be carried too far! It is a wonderful weekend away for both of us. We are already counting down the days and saving our pennies.

The little lamb...

Here is the little lamb herself in her car seat going for a drive. She looks quite content don't you think?

Here is the little felted lamb I have been working on..need to add the eyes and maybe a mouth.

When my dear friend, Sue was over this afternoon...she said it looked a bit like a bear..

that was before the pink was placed in to the ears..body still needs shaping but I am

totally pleased with how it is starting to shape up! I wonder what Sue will think if it now?

In 2 weeks....

2 weeks ago today Claire was born.

In 2 weeks from today I will get to hold her in my arms when I get to Vancouver.

Jeremy and Julie keep me updated as best as busy tired parents can.

She is a fussy little baby, has a really loud voice and from what Jeremy tells me, she sounds like a little

lamb when she cries. Can't wait to hear that. She finally has slept for 3 hours..

straight...it was a good afternoon.

It will be my time to bond with her and take alot of photos!!!

I will Cherish my time with her.

I think I will make her a little lamb..something like this!

Vintage Road Signs

 These are two new Vintage Neon  Road signs for us. We saw this one in between Globe and Miami..AZ when we went on our excellent adventure on Christmas Eve Day. Maybe next time we travel that way we

stop in and see if the food is good.

This old sweetie is in Casa Grande. I have always wanted to stop and get a photo of this before road construction or development takes these old treasures away. Most of these old signs were on the major highways going thru even the smallest towns. Now the big 4 lane freeways skirt the towns, but if we are lucky we have these vintage neon road signs as a remembrance of a different time and place.

Alexander's 1st Birthday Party

In Sri Lanka, parties for birthday and weddings are large and happy affairs. Shane and Laurie wanted to celebrate little Alexander's 1st birthday in this happy style. We wish we could of been there. Here is what Shane sent to us, what a wonderful way to celebrate this special little guys's 1st birthday.

Dear family and friends,
Thanks to you all for your best wishes for the little guy's first birthday. We held off until Saturday the 8th so we could have a little get together form him which turned into quite the party. We took lots of photos so that even though he will not remember it he will have lots of pictures so he can get an idea of what his first birthday was like here in Sri Lanka. We had a pretty good roll up given the time of the year with about 33 adults and about 14 little ones aged between 3 months and 8 years of age. Despie being under the weather I think he had a good time. Everyone else certainly did! The bouncy castle, face painting and balloon bending were hits. personally I like the concept of junk food and beer for the dads at 11:00am!

Snow in Nelson

Cindy sent me these photos of the snow that was falling in Nelson a couple of days ago. Here Emmy Lou is slogging thru the snow..she will be one tired dog and have a nap as soon as she gets home. I love the snow...especially when it is in Nelson and not here in AZ. Thanks so much, Cindy, for sending on these beautiful snowy winter photos.

Little Claire

Jeremy and Julie shared what they would name their little girl with us quite some time ago...I was able to get her some pink hats and embroider her name on this one.

Her name is Latin in origin and means:

"Clear, Bright and Famous!" 

What a good start for this little star of ours.

Remembering our Dad

It was 17 years ago today that our Dad passed away..in many way it seems like yesterday that we spent that last Christmas together in Bull River. In so many other ways..it feels like such a long time ago.

We will always love and remember you Dad.. With love from your 7 kids, their husbands and wives, 10 grandkids and 3 great granddaughters.

Cupcakes..

My good friend Karen had to go the hospital yesterday and have her appendix removed. I went and sat with her for a couple of hours in the morning. Ya Ya Sue and Shannon came to see her as well as her neighbors..it is a good time to have a sisterhood of pals, especially when you are on your own. All went well and she will be home today.

I came home and baked some cupcakes. I will take a couple over to her when she gets home in the evening. Jimmy tried one and gave his approval!

Update on Karen..Saturday..she is still in the hospital hoping to come home tomorrow.

Jeremy and Julie sent me several new photos of Claire. She changes daily and today Jeremy brought her down to his computer so I could see her on Skype. We were able to chat for about 15 minutes before she got restless. He has already mastered the new Daddy hold and holds her close to his heart.
I will be flying up to Vancouver on Jan 26 for a week to see them. Am counting the days!
Now just waiting for a photo of Claire with Julie.

Learning to knit

I have long wanted to learn to knit..even before I knew we would have Alexander or Claire in our lives. My mom knitted so beautifully and even as a young girl while she tried to teach me to knit, she would tell me, " the tension should be in the wool, not the person!" she knitted socks, toques, sweaters, blankets, baby clothes, she could read patterns, increase, decrease, purl....you name a stitch, she could do it or learn how to do it..such wisdom is now lost to me..how I wish she was still around to teach me..as I surely have less tension in me now.
