A Day of Milestones

Today would of been my Mom's 87th birthday..she passed away 11 years ago...I am thankful she never had to know about 9/11...we got to visit with Harry yesterday..he looks remarkably well for what he is going thru...Spending most of the day with him today..will try and see if we can spring him free for an hour or so....thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for him and our entire Leuenberger family..they mean so much to us..

My mom knitted this hat for me many many years ago...I love it allot.... I am bringing it with Jim and I as we drive to Calgary today to give to Harry...
Something that was made with our Mom's loving hands to keep him warm in the cold winter months....we can't bring him any food or flowers...I think this is better!

Making bracelets

I have been making a few more bracelets..and even made one for Harry to wear if he wished.. I just needed to do something to show I was thinking of him..The LIVESTRONG wristbands we ordered have not arrived yet....Sitting out under the umbrella on our deck gives me plenty of time to craft and send positive and prayful loving thoughts to Harry...these are a few I have finished making...









this wristband for Harry...we will be traveling to Calgary on Saturday for a 3 day visit..am so looking forward to seeing him!

SPCA..... &.....Golf Balls

When you live on a golf course as we do...you get a few balls in your yard...on top of the errant t-shots....Jim golfs with a group of guys 3 times a week......each day he golfs he finds between 12-36 balls....so.....he brings them home..bleaches them....sorts them...and packages them up in egg cartons and baggies..all by brand name.....with 100 dozen in our garage we decided to put a table out everyday until we leave to go south and raise money for the SPCA....in 2 afternoons we have raised $26.00...this might means some more food for an animal at the shelter...will keep you posted on the final tally! The SPCA is one of my personal favorite charities..along with World Vision and the Cancer society...there are so many good causes...how do you share?

One for Team Harry...

My brother-in-law....Larry who is married to my sister Caroline is one special guy! He decided to climb this mountain for our brother Harry who is in the Calgary Hospital fighting Acute Leukemia....He phoned us all and asked what we wanted written on the ribbon that he was going to tie to a snag up there...here he is with the ribbon fluttering in the wind with all of our prayers and thoughts for Harry's recovery.
Bull Mountain is in the Steeples Range in southeastern BC....the air gets thin up there...@ 2642 Meters = 8667.979002624672 Feet (just to be accurate!)



Thanks Larry for being the Expedition Leader for Team Harry...... you made all of us proud.

Fan and Feather Scarf...

While I was in Vancouver staying with Frosso....she was knitting this lovely scarf.... she thought it would be easy to knit for a beginner like me....it really is..I watched a few you-tube video's and started knitting....Here is the pattern I am knitting with....Thanks darling Fro......can't wait to see how it turns out....

Fan and Feather Scarf.......using 5.5 knitting needles
Cast on 56...double this for a shawl....
Knit 4 rows of garter stitch (this will be the hem)
Row 1. Knit 1* K2 together 3 times, Yarn over K1 x 6, K2 together x 3,
repeat from * Knit last stitch.
Row 2 Knit
Row 3 Knit
Row 4 Purl......then back to Row 1

hooky fun.....

Every time I sit down...I pick up crochet hook and make a few flowers...to add as a gift on a birthday package..to make into a bunting..just to have...their cheerful colors add joy to my life...

I wanted mine to be different....this is how I made mine....











I had several white Ikea shadow box frames...




used a scallop punch...punched out the place we met...Vancouver...and the 3 places we have lived...Calgary, Nelson and now Westbank/Kelowna.




I lined the back board with some linen, cut little triangles for the buntings banner, glued everything in place...strung some beads to some old house keyes....and this is the result...I am very happy with this little project!

Yesterday the weather was really cold and windy...truly felt like fall was in the air..even some leaves started falling off the trees...up early to see the sunrise...weekend prediction...sunny next five {5} days!....working in my studio....gathering colors together...enjoying this lovely month called "september."

Quotes and saying can add so much to your life...this is one my friend Layne shared with Frosso and I while we walked to dinner...It will stay with me for quite a while......Thank you Layne and Frosso for a wonderful evening filled with love and friendship and the odd G&T!

3 generations....

These are the days that I wish my Mom and Dad were still living...to see my son Jeremy become the special man he is today and to have met Claire..We talk about the relationship that Jeremy had with his both sets of grandparents and how much they influenced his life....I hope to have the same positive effect on Claire and make all kinds of memories with her!

Morning Light....

I love getting up early...I don't want to miss a sunrise in our beautiful Okanagan Valley....and I think the early morning light is amazing.... to capture it perfectly is difficult but to me that is not as important as just seeing it unfold.....These are the views from. our deck....

Joy and Happiness....

Off to the park we went...a perfect day in Vancouver....hot and sunny....Claire thought being in the swing was just so much fun..then we went for a long walk.... she slept for 12 hours...what a happy little girl...when she smiles at me, she melts my heart. It was a good day!

Waiting.....

Today I am heading down to Vancouver to see Jeremy, Julie and baby Claire.....while I am there, I will have my blood work done to see if I can be a suitable bone marrow cell transplant donor for our brother Harry...It will take 15 days after they receive the blood work to see if the needed 10 DNA markers match...please pray that one of us six siblings will be a match...it is all my family can think of at the moment while Harry is in the Calgary hospital fighting for his life and getting treatment. His wife Jill is with him and he is able to have family and friends come to see him by this weekend.

So....while I wait for our LIVESTRONG wristbands to arrive..I wanted something on my wrist to remind me many times during my day to send love and positive thoughts out to Harry...here is what I made......

Smile at someone today...be a bit kinder and sweeter...it will make a difference.......
