Pom Pom Love...

It is very soothing sitting here wrapping thread around these Pom Pom circles..cutting, tying, trimming, fluffing and throwing them into a basket for some later use...I wonder what I will make with these ones...

Wreaths

Starting to plan some crafting projects...some of these wreaths would be fun to make..check them out...found on Pinterest and this blog..HERE.....how will your wreath look this year?

Crostini..a yummy appy!

Caramelized Onion and Blue Cheese Crostini...from www.pinkbasil.com


I normally make caramelized onions with any onion I have on hand, but for this particular recipe I highly recommend using a sweet onion since it helps to contrast the sharp blue cheese.

Makes approx. 10 crostini

1 large sweet onion sliced or chopped (personal preference)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
1 baguette, sliced and toasted
1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles

In a large saute pan heat the olive oil on medium-low heat. Add the onions and sprinkle with a dash of salt. Cook, stirring often, for about 5 minutes or until they have softened and then add the thyme leaves. Cook the onions, stirring often, for another 20-25 minutes or until they have turned brown. Remove from heat.

Spoon the onions over the toasted bread and top with blue cheese crumbles.

Pot Holders...

These potholders were another find on Pinterest...Today I gathered up some material...a couple of fat quarters..jumbo rickrack, quilting batting and matching thread...all ready for my project today! I hope they will look as lovely as these!

Handmade loveliness....

This afghan is from my wonderful sister Caroline..it was one that our Mother knitted and she gifted it to me...I brought it with us to Az...it rests on my chaise lounge..


Christa crocheted this beautiful lap blanket and gifted to me...I also brought it down with us to Az...it is at the foot of our bed..to be snuggled under for an afternoon nap! Memories in the making! Wonderful handmade goodness to be cherished forever...thank you Caroline and Christa...

ear buds....

What do you do with those tangled cords from your IPod, IPod Touch, IPad, here is an idea...use an old gift card, punch a hole up top..cut down the sides and put a slit for the ear buds to go into...now I have all my
cords untangled and ready to use...what have you made from Pinterest?

November....

This year, November will even be a more important month than ever for our family...first we have Evelyne's 60th birthday...as well as Harry's 57th birthday at the end of the month...Their big day is scheduled for November 16....stem cell transplant.....they are always in our hearts and on our minds....today I had a chance to work in my craft room...making a new bracelet in yellow that compliments my LIVESTRONG wristband...ever mindful to be positive and supportive thru all this for them....

These are a few of the things I made or have in my craft room...ready to craft...except it has been so warm here that I have been enjoying being outside more...early morning walk...work in the garden..lunch..pool..read or have a nap (or both)..ride my bike back..to read, craft or play ....is there really any difference? hope you have a lovely Sunday!

morning light.....

The first thing we did when we arrived on Monday was filled the hummingbird feeder and the fountain...two things that give us the most pleasure in our garden...sure enough..the hummingbirds found the feeder and one came over to drink as well as have a bath in the fountain..next time I will take my camera outside along with my morning coffee..

It always seems a bit surreal to see our personal things after 6 months..it is quite wonderful to see all the things we built and made...today is getting the craft room/ guest room back into crafting shape...have lots of projects floating around in my head that just need to get out! Hope where ever you are, you are having a wonderful day! ox

An amazing drive....

2629 km = 1643 miles.. 3 days...Calgary AB to San Tan Valley, Az.
We had alot of fun..Jim did most of the driving...and I tried to keep him entertained...I know we are both glad to be sleeping in our own bed tonight...Here are some of the photos I took today...hope you enjoyed this trip with us!

where the buffalo roam....

From Dillon, Montana to Hurricane, Utah....1039 kms= 649 miles...10 hours on the road..fabulous scenery....there were buffaloes in huge herds roaming the fields, hundreds of domestic sheep, we saw goats, horses, lots of cattle and llamas..this is farming country..plenty of pick up trucks and cowboys..
Tonight now we are in Hurricane..what a fantastic setting in the midst of all these wonderful rock formations ....tomorrow we will make it home to Queen Creek, Az...I think we are taking a few scenic detours..to mix it up a bit....hopefully I will be able to get some good photos on our way thru the Vermillion Canyon.

Today was a traveling day..9 1/2 hrs...868 kms {543 miles}.....from Calgary Alberta to Dillon, Montana...thru a big broad valley with spectacular colors as we head south...here are some of the pictures I took thru our windshield..plenty of sunshine and good tunes on my iPod..it was a good safe day to travel.

The best news is that Harry got to come home for a 2 week break...it was great seeing he and Jill and knowing he had this to look forward to..He and Evelyne will continue this next part of his treatment after this much needed and well deserved rest back home in Bull River...we are thinking of you every day!
