I went out to Peachland,
smoke and all,
walked along the lake,
took out my chair, table, and enjoyed my lunch.
Only a couple of boats on the water,
a few geese and a very bold duck.
Took some photos of a tiny
fruit stand here in West Kelowna.
The sun still glows red in the morning sky.
It is difficult to go outside
and exert any energy with all the smoke that is still in the air.
So there is a lack opportunity of taking good photos.
Happily,
It was Werner and Dana's 2nd anniversary.
She is totally lovely!

No power today from 9-2 while they work
on our compressor station.
Definitely time to get outside once again,
smokey skies and all.
The air quality here was so bad, it was nearly impossible
to be outside.
I really felt the effects of the smoke, sore throat, headache, runny nose,
almost allergy like.
So I decided to cook and bake.
Peach muffins, quiche, grilled vegetables
as well as carmelized onions.
It all tasted very good.
This is the second day that the smoke has filled our valley.
It continues to come up from
the fires in the US.
Even the sun is unable to shine thru
this smoke.
I feel so sad for all these very exhausted
firefighters.
The people that have lost their homes,
the animals hurt or displaced.
We are safe here, we just need wind and
rain to help us out.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any
rain in sight.
Beautiful clear skies,
perfect summertime temperature.
Some wine tasting, a wonderful lunch as well as a great drive.

Finally, a morning where I needed to put a sweater on to have my coffee outside.
It looks like it is raining across the lake where we had the 2003 devastating wildfires.
Over 300 homes were burnt.
More forest fires threaten small towns along the
US/Canadian border.
But today, we are thankful for cooler temps and
the chance for rain.

how weary they must be.
It is almost too hot here for the roses to continue to bloom.
