Enjoying Victoria...

Catching up with our dear friends and family in Victoria and in Sidney.

Flowers, boats, water and more flowers every where.

A wonderful way to spend a few days.

Granville Island fun with my girl....

It was a great day for visiting and spending the day with Claire.

We had coffee and treats with Frosso, then on to meet Shirley at Granville Island.

Claire got to enjoy a walk around Fro's neighbourhood and a trip to the marina where

Shirley's beautiful boat is moored as her live aboard home.

We booked a harbour ferry and went for a 1/2 hour tour of the harbour.

She was the most happiest, well mannered and delightful little

girl.

She texted and phoned her Mom and Dad, just

to say hi and tell them what fun she was having.

Here are a few photos of our marvellous adventure with Claire.

In Vancouver....

We are here spending a few days with

Claire.

We took a different, via Penticton, Keremeos, Princeton and Hope.

We stopped at a wonderful bakery in Princeton.

We get to share the whole day tomorrow with Claire,

having fun visiting with Frosso and Shirley.

We will be spending most of our time at Granville Island.

It will be the first time Jim see Shirley's boat.

Here are a few photos of our trip down.

Got caught in a 3 lane traffic jam that was miles and miles long.

Took us an extra 3 hours to get back in the highway after being re-routed.

Enjoying these days...

Having time to read sometimes feels like a luxury.

Really, how can that be when I am retired,

nobody owns my time but me.

I have some great reading friends that have recommended

some of these wonderful books.

These are but a few of them on my IPad.

I plan on reading every single day.

Even if it just a few chapters..

I will read.

Here are a few photos of this week.

Alexander and grandad...

Alexander arrived with his parents from Calgary via Australia.

The beach was a wonderful way to spend

the entire afternoon.

Going with Grandad on the golf cart was almost as much fun.

Today I will be spending an hour

or so with him while Jim takes

Shane and Laurie on a tour to Mission Hill Winery.

Here are a few photos Alexander

helped me make on my IPad.

Forest Fire...North Shore, Nelson

This active fire was right behind Cindy and Tim's house.

We watched it for a long time, first as smoke, then as it grew in size fanned by high winds.

At 1:30 am, on Saturday night,

we decided to head into town and try and find a hotel room.

We found the last one.

As of this morning, this is still an active interface fire and more than

300 homes are still on evacuation alert.

Cindy and Tim's homes are safe at this time.

We could feel the heat of this fire that was less than a mile away.

The most amazing thing was the roaring sound the fire

made as it devoured the trees in its path.

It is over 300 hectares in size, being fought with firefighters,

air tankers, helicopters, heavy equipment

as well as 4 small water bombers.

The main thing is that no homes have been lost.

This was our view from the beach just before we went into town.

When we drove back to West Kelowna on Sunday night,

our valley was filling with smoke from some of the 840

fires burning in BC at this time.

This morning, you can not see across the lake,

It looks like a fog bank has rolled in.

They are forecasting another really hot week ahead.

Kootenay Vintage Chicks Faire!

It was a good two days of selling

as well as meeting old friends.

The hours are long, loading up the trucks,

unpacking, organizing, styling everything.

It was so hot inside, truly hot, the soaked scarves kept us cool!

The results were good.

Here are a few photos of our booth and

Cindy and I.

Thank you sweet friend for all the effort you put into making

this such a good event.

I will post about the forest fire drama tomorrow.

Thankfully, Cindy and Tim's homes are safe.

Tidying up my craft room...

With all my thrifted finds packed into the car for

tomorrow's journey to Nelson,

it was a good time to do a cleanup in the studio.

It was fun to re-arrange all my craft supplies.

I want to have everything neatly at hand

so that when Alexander is here

next week,

we can craft as much as he wants to.
