Victoria, BC

Jim and Wayne are cousins, and we went down to Victoria for his 60th birthday and retirement. We had a wonderful party and he was congratulated by his family and his friends. Happy Retirement Wayne. There was also a great car show on, at the Inner Harbour and here Jim is with a 3/4 ton 1949 Ford.

Colors.....

These are the colors blooming in my garden today. How sweet is that?

KVR Train

Had a lovely evening on the Sunset Wine Train on the Kettle Valley Railroad. This old steam engine was built in 1929, and thru the dedicated efforts of the society and volunteers, you can ride part of the tracks today. This was a part of Jim's Father's Day gift from our "dogs". Sumac Ridge served really good wines, we had plenty of good eats, and it wasn't raining. Our friend Andrea joined us, and it was so enjoyable to see that part of the Okanagan behind Summerland.

The dock...

Over the last few days or so, I have missed our dock at Kootenay Lake in Nelson where we used to live. I came across this photo today, and I thought about all the times I spent down at the dock. All the books I read down there, the solitude, how the dogs loved the shade and the coolness of the lake. The hours of fun that the Osprey and their babies provided while they were learning how to fly. I often miss the campfires and the beautiful night skies. You quickly forget all the hard work to keep such a place, but when it is so hot here, the memories are lovely.

Old words.....

When I see these old typewriter keys I imagine all the stories that were written here, maybe just everyday things that touched some one's heart. Probably allot of normal stuff, paying bills, writing a letter to the newspaper, perhaps a love note. The wonder is endless.

From Kuwait....

This is a gift that my friend Alanna who lives in Kuwait has made for me and will be sending me when she comes for a visit to the US next week. Isn't it lovely?
Thanks Alanna, I am excited to get it.

July 4th....Good Morning...

It is going to be so hot (33) here today. So it's up early for us, and after Jim is finished golfing, it is off to the beach with the dogs and a cool ride in the convertible. A good day to be in the sunny Okanagan valley.
