New treasures....

Here are some of the things that Frosso and I found on our "Junk Hunting Day."
Old bark cloth drapery panels, vintage ric-rac, and lovely wool balls. "What am I going to do with them you ask," really, who knows, they will be inspiration for some project later on. But knowing that I really wanted them was enough for me. I also got a lovely FireKing sugar bowl for my Cindy, an old quilt and a few other things. But the best part was spending time with Frosso and just having fun!!!

I am so blessed to these wonderful women that are my friends.

Sunday in Vancouver

The very, very fit Shirley. She hikes all the time and does the Grouse Grind every week!!!

Walking to Granville Island from Shirley's home. As you can see, I am more built for comfort than speed:)

Julie and Jeremy meeting me at Granville Island for lunch. They run every other night or so.

Saying goodbye again. It makes me feel so sad not to see my son for months at a time. I always want just one more photo of us together.
I will miss both Jeremy and Julie so much.

Jeremy, his new truck and their new townhouse in the background

Frosso and I shopping at a great vintage store that all kinds of things I loved!!!! I am wearing my beautiful down vest. Jim's birthday gift to me.
I am staying with Frosso for a couple of nights, what fun we are having hitting
all the vintage and 2nd hand store in her little neighbourhood.
Jeremy came and picked me up in his new truck and took me to see their new place which they move into on Oct 28. He took me out to lunch, went shopping, and then we met Julie for dinner. Back here at Frosso's waiting for her to come home from work, and then we will have a drink to celebrate all the amazing things that we found.
Tomorrow I will meet Jeremy and Julie for lunch, then overnight with Shirley before I head back to Westbank on Monday.

Road Trip

Water dogs

These photos are from the Road Trip Jim and I took yesterday. It was overcast and then turned to rain, but the "girlies" and us had fun anyways.
Found this old vintage "Esso" sign which I wanted to take a photo of, but Jim thought that I might have enough old signs in my collection. As you can see, after a brief discussion, he was kind enough to turn around a mile or so down the road and give me time to record this sign. We drove over the Coquihalla Highway to Aspen Grove, then past all this little lakes to Princeton, back up to Westbank.
It took about 5 1/2 hours with a picnic stop along the way at Bromley Rock. You should see the trees changing colors, even here in the OK, fall is coming sooner than I thought it would.

It's my birthday...

Most of you that know me, know how much birthdays mean to me. I love being remembered and thanks to all of you that have sent cards, e-mailed, phoned, & remembered me. I think that birthdays should be special in so many ways. It is yours, and we all should celebrate the joy and the happiness in our lives.

The flowers were delivered yesterday, a loving gift from Christa. Cindy delivered her gifts personally on the weekend, and this morning Jim and the "girls" treated me so well. I work today, but tonight we will go out and have dinner at a little place in Peachland overlooking the lake, always a treat.

So thanks everyone, as you can see by this, I am very touched by your thoughtfulness and love.

In Memory of my Mom

Carol Leuenberger Sept 11-1924 - Sept 30 -2000

Today, 9/11 was my Mother's birthday. I remember taking this photo of her on the deck of our home in Nelson. Richard and Evelyne were over, and it was June 30 - 2000. She looked so well, was so active and healthy, but died 3 months on Sept 30 - 2000. We were really close, as I was born 2 days after her 25th birthday, we always had a special bond. She had a way of making each one of us 7 kids feel we were all special. I always knew I was her favourite, and knew that when she was alone with any of the 7, they were her favourite ones as well. We all knew it and it made her even more special. So Mom, I know you watch over us, and thanks for all those loving years that you were with us to love and share your interesting life. We were all so much better because of the life you and Dad made for all of us kids, and your 9 grandchildren. You are missed every day.

Happy belated birthday (Sept 7) to my neice Kari....

Flowers from the Market, and Cindy's handpainted ceramic gift of her "Lupine Bowl"

Cindy left early this morning to get back to Nelson. I know that she is excited about getting all her things that she bought for their new Copa Cabin at the beach in place before Tim comes home. We had a great weekend of catching up.

Wonderful new news, Christa is a grandmother again. Ella Jean , born last night just before midnight. Congratulations to Katie and Nathan, all doing fine!!!

My Cindy's visit.......

Lunch on the deck

At the Farmer's Market

Cindy's Homemade with love Preserves

So here we are, Cindy and I. She told me today that we have been friends since 1977, we don't feel that OLD at all. Today was such fun, shopping, eating, going to the Farmer's market, and drinking some really good 2002 MHFE SLC Syrah. Yummy, good food, good friends, what could be better. We even got to see Daigen, Christa's 2 month old new grandson. The beautiful fruit was a gift from Cindy, from her garden, to her stove, to me. Lucky ME!!!!

Lucky Jim, being away in Calgary visiting Brad and Carmen and visiting his 94 year old Mom. He was so cold in Calgary, while we basked in the sunshine with the our top down (on the convertible)!!!!!!!

Concert @ Mission Hill

Posted by Picasa
Today we are having a BBQ at Mission Hill Family Estate Winery for all of the staff and families. There will be a Blues Band, lots of great food and fun. It is there way of saying thanks to all of us who have made this year so successful.
Jim and I attended a Concert in the grass amphitheater in August, and it was lovely. While the two musicians played the flute and guitar, a small nighthawke (and a couple of bats) flew and it seemed, danced to the music performed.

Jeremy's new truck......

Back to School for Mr. Brown.
Hey Jeremy, we love your new truck. Congratulations, a new home and a new truck. I wonder what it will be like for you and Julie to have the freedom of not having to co-ordinate both busy schedules around one vehicle. Your worth will have increased and you will be in more demand than ever to help your friends move. What a bonus.!!!!!
