Learning to knit

I have long wanted to learn to knit..even before I knew we would have Alexander or Claire in our lives. My mom knitted so beautifully and even as a young girl while she tried to teach me to knit, she would tell me, " the tension should be in the wool, not the person!" she knitted socks, toques, sweaters, blankets, baby clothes, she could read patterns, increase, decrease, purl....you name a stitch, she could do it or learn how to do it..such wisdom is now lost to me..how I wish she was still around to teach me..as I surely have less tension in me now.

The Purl Bee is a knitting store in New York City. A wonderful website and a great place for inspiration. These are their photos.

These beautifully crocheted stones we made by Margie of Resurrection Fern. Her blog is on my side bar..her work and photos are so beautiful. Please take a moment to check it out. Margie was kind enough to give me permission to use her photo..great tutorial on the purl bee site of how she made them.

I knit some. I can make a scarf and am hoping to make baby hats for the hospital in Henderson this winter. My friends tell me that I don't "focus" and that's why knitting is so hard for me. Whatever, I would like to be better at it.

The baby is beautiful.
