Oh dear,

An early little sweet gift from Cindy...to add to my little deer collection❤We are heading to a Palm Spring today until Sunday. We plan to celebrate our friend Shannon's birthday and enjoy American Thanksgiving with her..do some hiking, going to various gardens and just enjoying the company of a good friend.❤

A little early...

I know this is a little early, but in my defense, I love Christmas and I was just stacking some little things together to take a photo..as well as eating those wonderful pomegranate seeds...it just seemed right..have you been thinking, planning, shopping for Christmas yet?

In the basket, on the hook, all finished..239 stitches done back and forth three times as well as a shell edge..such a sweet project to make and give❤
I have made one with the picot edge and loved it, but with this yarn it proved much easier to just do a shell edge.......

November 18

This day will always be such a special day for our family..my sister Evelyne was a perfect stem cell donor match for our brother Harry who was diagnosed with leukemia. One year later he continues to make an amazing recovery. Harry and his wife Jill welcomed two granddaughters into their lives this past year..his future looks so happy and bright..we are all thankful as a family for this wonderful gift that Evelyne was able to give to Harry....thanks to all of you who have asked over this past year how he is doing, your thoughts and prayers were so appreciated by our whole family.❤




Harry with little Miss Colby dressed as a lady bug for Halloween..She was born April 6 and little Miss Halle born September 18.

Hike and a picnic...

Yesterday we hiked in a new regional park about one hour north of us towards Phoenix at Usery Mtn Park...3,600 acres...loaded with wonderful multiple use trails for horses, bikes, walkers, runners and hikers..we did a 2.9 mile hike, got a reasonable workout and saw some new country..the picnic under a ramada (shade shelter) was a great way to cool down and be out of the sun as well as enjoy our lunch..the view was amazing with hikers coming down the Wind Cave trail..800 feet elevation climb in 1.5 mile hike... we will think we will be ready to hike that at the end of January...will let you know how we do❤

Immigrants leaving Switzerland..

Nearly 1.5 million immigrants came to Canada between 1946-1961...my family from Switzerland were just a few of them..today celebrates that brave leap of faith our parents took to bring us ( 3 kids under 5 ) from our small village of Uznach, in November of 1952 to Le Harve in France where we boarded the Cunard boat, Scythia and docked on November 15 in Montreal. 60 years ago today our boat docked in a very different land that what my parents had chosen for a new life for all of us....we became Canadians thru and thru..with 4 more kids born in Canada, our lives were so free, being able to live in the great outdoors..what brave and courteous parents we had..

Sweet Pyrex..

My collection of pyrex has grown by 4 over the last 2 weeks...some bought on etsy, some found at a thrift store..you know how it goes..soon your have a collection.❤I have several more in BC..maybe these two collections will merge sometime in the future.

A rainy day..

Julie tells me that Claire loves her new umbrella and Kitty boots and in order to get to use them, it must be raining....it's a good thing to enjoy the rain if you live in Vancouver...is it just me or isn't she just the cutest?❤

This is the kind of day you miss a sweet friend to go thrifting and looking with..they can spy treasures for you as you can for them...then have lunch together and delight over each other's finds❤..I am blessed to have several friends such as this....

Things I saw out and about...

It was a good day thrifting yesterday..many finds were just photographed, but a few jumped into my bag and made it home with me..they have two antique malls about 45 mins from us here...and at least 100 booths in each one..total bliss to spend the time just taking it all in.❤do you have a favorite store that you find thrifty goodness in?

On my desk.....

A small table under the window serves as my desk in our spare bedroom turned craft room..I moved the bed against the wall giving me more space to be crafty....fresh flowers, bits of string as well as newly crocheted coaster all feel cheerful and creative. Do you have s sweet space to call your own?

Canyon Lake, AZ

Less than an hour drive from Phoenix at an elevation of 1,660 feet lies the unspoiled beauty of Canyon Lake. Here, you'll revel in a playground with more than 28 miles of cactus-dotted shoreline, explore wondrous rock formations, discover peaceful private coves and spot countless species of birds, Big Horn sheep, deer, and javelina roaming freely through the landscape. Best of all, you'll find new meaning in the spectacular Arizona sunsets that paint the canyon walls aglow.
The waters are sort of murky, the scenery spectacular, the cactus amazing and when it is 91 degrees, it is wonderful to spend 1 1/2 hours on a lake...

A bit of a hike...

We bought a yearly pass to the surrounding regional parks, filled with great trails and amazing views...the levels of difficulty varies from easy to difficult...we are on the moderate 3 mile loop leaving earlier in the morning as it is still quite hot here..here is the view yesterday❤


I bought these walking shoes in my Mom's home village or Tramin, Italy (Sud-Tyrol)..they have logged many miles..along with my Dad's Baja walking stick, I am good to go! Jimmy carries the bigger pack with more water and I have the trail bars! { always be prepared.}

A new knitting book...

How lovely it will be this fall to learn how to knit in the round...I go to a knitting circle..some extremely talented group of ladies in our winter community here that meet in Wednesdays to chat and knit...this is my new book on order..her style of writing suits the way I think..good photos and clear instructions..can't wait to start knitting in the round❤

Measure twice, cut once..

It turned out beautifully, I used a thrifted pillow sham, installed the zipper, used my cherished hand stitched piece, even my own zipper pull.....but alas,
it is to small..it fits in, just barely, but not with any ease.. On the bright side, isn't it lovely....I will be able to use it, just not what it was intended for..has this happened to you?
