Happy birthday, Harry

As some of you know, there are seven

of us Leuenberger kids.

Our brother, Harry was diagnosed with Leukemia 2 years ago.

Thankfully our sister

Evelyne was a perfect match to be his stem cell donor.

He celebrates his 59th birthday today

and doesn't have

see his Dr. again for 6 months.

How happy we all are to know he is healthy once again.

Crafting for kids..

It is no surprise I love crafting magazine as well as

books.

I really love the beautifully styled photos,

the creativity, as well as the accessibity to most of

the products we have on hand.

These photos were all from the newest kids magazine

Having fun

Having a place to be creative,
to play,
to just have fun,
is one of the most important ways to
stay young.

Crafting for Christmas....

Each year I make an advent calendar,

counting down the days until

Christmas.

This year I made it from tags and special little

embellishments that I

have collected.

Here are a few up close.

Dog sitting..

We have been without dogs for several years now.

Since Cookie and Pebbles passed away in 2009, we have not added anymore

pets to our family. In the summertime we dog sit "Georgie girl"

as well as we have had UBe for a couple of weeks.

Here in AZ we will have several days looking after our friends

pets while they are away for the day, or a weekend.

This is "Gracie", such a sweet golden.

We enjoyed having her with us on such a windy and wet day.

She felt right at home with us.

A Happy Week...

It is raining here in AZ.

The desert needs the rain, but for three days the rain

has barley stopped.

All the low spots are filled with water, it lies on the roads,

there has been flooding, it has been windy and even the power

has been out several times this morning.

A couple of days ago we went to the new outlet stores close

to us and then on to Ikea....some crafting ideas

will come of this I am sure.

It is a good day to be indoors and craft.

Wooden cutting boards..

I love wooden cutting boards.

I remember asking my dad to give me an end cut of a log from the

log home he and mom were building.

It is still one of my favorite cutting boards.

My sister Caroline and her husband Larry

own and live in that beautiful

home now.

We had been talking about cutting boards that she could use

with her pottery, these are three that Larry

made for her.

The other images are from Pinterest.

I think I will ask Jim to make me a few of these beautiful treasures.

Pumpkin Spice Biscotti

I thought I would share how I made these pumpkin spice biscotti.

I looked for a Bisquick reciepe and found one that I changed

up to make my own.

Pumpkin Spice Biscotti

(Oven) 350 bake 20 then 5/10 again.

2 eggs

6 tbsp butter

Some orange rind

1pkg ( 2 cups) of Krusteaz pumpkin spice mix (Costco)

1 cup regular Bisquick

1/2 cup Raisins or dried cranberries

Some slivered almonds

Cream first 3 ingredients together, add pumpkin spice mix and Bisquick.

Before it forms a ball, add raisins and slivered almonds.

I used my hands to form the ball, divide in half, form into two logs,

Flattening the tops, place on cookie sheet lined with parchment,

bake for20 minutes, turning the sheet once.

Take out of oven, cool for a few minutes, cut biscotti and then return the cut pieces to oven.

I like mine fairly soft, so I only returned them to to oven to bake for 5 minutes.

I made two batches, one with just Bisquick and I baked them a bit too long thinking they were not done.

20 minutes is long enough.

I added dried cranberries to those and iced them with a bit of cream cheese icing.

Both batches disappeared very quickly.

Updated...

We spent these last two weeks ripping out the carpet and putting in new flooring in both

our master bedroom as well my craftroom/guest room.

I am so pleased with the results.

Jim also removed all the old molding and replaced them with larger

4" ones created new door jams as well.

What a difference that makes.

There are still a few tweaks to make, but overall, I am so pleased with how the new bedrooms came together.

Here are a few pictures of the new look.
