Shells and sand..

I have collected sand and shells from nearly every beach

we have gone to on our travels.

The shell collection didn't grow by very much while

we were in Thailand, hardly any sea glass at all.

Here is the start of my collection.

I will add the longitude and latitude on to each bottle when I display them.

I do miss all the beautiful sea glass I was able to find in Panama.

My shell collection so far..

The shell collecting has not gone as well as hoped.

Can 6 shells really be called a collection?

Panama so far has scored much higher than the beach here in Hua Hin.

With the high tides occurring almost all during the day,

it makes it difficult

to find any shells at all.

I am practicing patience,

since I hear that soon we will have much

more sand at our beach.

Unpacking...

There always seems to be

a lot of work to do after you have been

away for nearly 6 months.

It's good to take time out and play.

First things first..

unpacking and sorting out the shells and sea glass.

I am anxious to learn how to make some of these pieces into jewelry.

Now I just need to find a course.

High Tide Treasures...

This weeks tides have been

very high, bringing in big waves as well as debris

a long way up to the shoreline.

Yesterday on two walks,

I found 25 pieces of sea glass.

Some very small, others that were beautiful

in both shape and color.

I collect these big shells to show off my collections.

I am addicted to searching for sea glass and shells...

The proof is in these photos!
I love, love looking for sea glass and shells.
The time just seems to slip away.
I reluctantly head back for
a swim in the pool
as I don't want to get too much sun!

What to do,with all my sea glass.....

I have been looking for ideas that give

me a creative way to use

my sea glass and shells.

I already have many of the jewelry tools I need.

These are the ones I thought I could eventually make.

I still love to crochet using shells and making this little

pouch for the sea glass.

I think I need to try another one using finer yarn to make it look more

delicate as well

as a using smaller hook.

Sunday on the beach...

The tide was in our favor today.

High tide at 10:35 am.

That meant lots of shells washed ashore,

as well as sea glass.

38 pieces today, some very small,

all treasured.

Amazing sunrise photo taken thru a very dirty window in our

stairway.

I think this one photo might be my favorite one of all.

The shell haul....

Patrick kindly took 6 bags of shells and sea glass back with him

to Seattle.

It will be a win win for both of us.

This way, we get to see them when they come up to Kelowna for a visit and we get show them around our beautiful

Okanagan Valley.

My collection continues to grow.

Shells in many different shapes...

The tide was low today, but calm seas,

which meant hardly any shells.

We only found 2 pieces of sea glass.

The shells I did find were lovely,

Rounded and smoothed by time, wind and waves.

It was a good morning to walk the beach.

Following the shell trail...

Everyone asks me how come I can find

so much sea glass.

Well, I must admit, I am persistent,

I have two very good eyes and when

Jim is along, he is keen to find the sea glass for me as well.

But most of all, I follow the trail of shells.

that's where the glass gets hung up,

or as the water recedes, it gets caught up in the small

streams that are formed.

I went out at 6:30 this morning, just as the sun was rising.

It was absolutely a perfect way to start my day.
