Weekend free of smoke.....

It has been such an unusual spring and now

summer here in the

Okanagan.

First we had the wettest spring on record with some of

the most serious flooding this area has seen.

Right after that, the fire season started with high tempetures and strong winds.

The summer months where filled with hot smokey days.

77 days without rain.

To celebrate one of the clear days we had over the weekend,

we drove the WestSide Road, up to Vernon and

had a lovely picnic along the way.

You definitely can feel that fall is in the air.

I celebrated my 68th birthday on the 13.

How blessed I feel to be so healthy and happy.

Always a bittersweet day for me as I was born 2 days after my

Mom's 25th birthday.

I miss her each day.

Another smokey week...

It's an eerie sight, smoke so thick it looks like fog.

The air quality is simply dreadful.

I can not imagine how hot and hard the conditions are for all the firefighters.

Lucky for us we can escape to our air conditioned home.

33 - 36 degrees all week.

The sun sets as an orange flaming ball.

Inspite of this all, there is still work to do in garden and within our community.

This smoke will eventually leave our valley, the sun will shine thru and

summer will return before the kids have to go back to school.

Summer, sunny, hot Okanagan Days..

The apricots are ripening.

The sunflowers are blooming.

There are days when the smoke from all 155 fires burning

fill our valley.

There are days when our air quality was worse than New Delhi.

There are days that are sunny and clear.

These are days for late evening walks and early morning gardening.

These are all good days to be in the Okanagan.

Happy July 1st...

It was really really warm/hot here yesterday.

32C = 90F.

Thankfully there was a breeze blowing.

Down at the lake it is always about 10 degrees cooler.

I hope wherever you spent your day, you enjoyed.

Canada's 150 Birthday.

Cherry U-Pick....

We had fun picking some U-Pick Cherries.

At $1.00 per pound, it sure beats paying $3.99 a pound.

Plus it's a lot of fun filling a bucket.

Lots of flower photos, dogs, as well as summertime activities.

A week in pictures...

Summer sun and warmth are finally here.

It's going to be a very warm weekend,

high of 32.

Our picnic spot down at the beach is still flooded.

We will have to look for a new place

to have our picnics until the water recedes.

The flowers are really starting to fill in

and bloom vigorously.

A weekend in photos..

A weekend of walks and drives around the area.

The water is still very high,

lots of sandbags still on the waterfront properties.

The weather is warming up, so the snow will melt and the water

in the lake will rise again.

Let's hope that it will soon be resolved.

Flowers in the Garden..

With a week of good weather behind us,

the flowers are starting

to bloom.

Their fragrance fills my vases in the house and outside

when I am cutting them to bring them in.

Summer is finally here in the Okanagan.
