Weekend free of smoke.....

It has been such an unusual spring and now

summer here in the

Okanagan.

First we had the wettest spring on record with some of

the most serious flooding this area has seen.

Right after that, the fire season started with high tempetures and strong winds.

The summer months where filled with hot smokey days.

77 days without rain.

To celebrate one of the clear days we had over the weekend,

we drove the WestSide Road, up to Vernon and

had a lovely picnic along the way.

You definitely can feel that fall is in the air.

I celebrated my 68th birthday on the 13.

How blessed I feel to be so healthy and happy.

Always a bittersweet day for me as I was born 2 days after my

Mom's 25th birthday.

I miss her each day.

A week in pictures...

Summer sun and warmth are finally here.

It's going to be a very warm weekend,

high of 32.

Our picnic spot down at the beach is still flooded.

We will have to look for a new place

to have our picnics until the water recedes.

The flowers are really starting to fill in

and bloom vigorously.

Happy to see the sunshine....

It has been such a dreary spring.

Fog, rain, wind, low cloud cover, more rain and wind.

I know it is flooding in many places, even here we had had power poles knocked out and flooding.

Happy to report we will have a week of sunshine.

We didn't want to miss a chance to go on a picnic,

this sunny day by the lake was perfect.

A little crocheting, taking some photos, enjoying the lake.

It was a wonderful day.

Wine Touring..

When friends come to our Okanagan Valley,

we pack a picnic and go wine touring.

With 135 wineries, the task at hand is where to go.

Our friends Patrick and Steven flew in from Seattle for a few days of fun.

We met them in Panama a few years ago and have

continued our friendship.

It was time for them to see our part of the world.

Wine was sipped, a picnic enjoyed, back roads traveled,

new wineries visited.

We are looking forward to having them return next summer.

Sunshine out on the boat...

We were invited out on our friends boat for

a cruise on the lake and a picnic.

It's lovley to have friends that share their day with us this way.

It was a very hot day,

lots of activity on the lake and beaches.

It was wonderful way to spend such a warm day.

We didn't go swimming but in some places on the lake the temp was

70 degrees in the water.

Almost warm enough to swim.

Thanks Bonnie and Gerry for the day spent on the

BB Lou.

Saturday Picnic....

Love these last few days of August.

Enjoying a picnic

just a bit south of Summerland,

on Okanagan Lake.

It's only Tuesday...

Happiness is feeling better.

A picnic on the weekend in the sunshine made all the

difference.

Oh yes, a new hair do and pedi helped as well!

Here are a few photos of my

past week.

Picnic time at 8,500'

We had a wonderful excellent adventure heading up

to Mt Lemmon Ski Hill

29 miles out side Tucson.

The top of the ski hill is over 9100' and they receive

180" of snow.

We had a great picnic

at 8500'

with a great view as well as cooler 56 degrees

in the trees...

it was 86 in the valley.

Picnic at Saguaro Lake

With record hot days here in AZ

(85f=30c)

a picnic at Saguaro Lake was a perfect get away.

It is a lovely spot, cliffs on one side, the lake in front of all

the covered picnic tables.

There even was a breeze off the water to keep us cool in the shade.
